ABOUT MIXED REVIEWS

In ethnicity, "mixed" refers to individuals who have parents or ancestors of two or more different ethnic or racial backgrounds. This is often referred to as multiethnic, multiracial, or biracial.

Welcome to Mixed Reviews — where horror meets identity.

Mixed Reviews was created by Mixed Media, a small gathering of biracial people, mostly queer, who are involve with horror, film, and pop culture. As biracial individuals, we know that real-life fears often hit deeper than what’s on the screen. Mixed Reviews exists to explore that space where culture, identity, and horror collide.

On this blog (and our YouTube channel), we break down horror films, tropes, and media with a sharp cultural lens. We dive into the stories that shaped us — from monsters that reflect society’s fears, to characters that fight for survival in worlds that don't always see them.

Our goal? To spark conversations, challenge clichés, and carve out a space for multicultural individuals in horror and other media. Essentially, we're here to mix things up, if you'll pardon the pun. Whether you’re here for deep-dives into identity horror, reviews of cult classics, or smart breakdowns of where horror is heading next — you’re in the right place.

Thanks for stopping by. Keep mixing things up. Stay spooky 👻
